SEPTEMBER 2011

5pm, Saturday September 10

First African Baptist Church

23 Montgomery Street

Savannah, GA

Believed to be the oldest black church in the United States, this church was also part of the Underground Railroad. So a trip to see the McIntosh County Shouters in this church will surely be one to remember. Learn about history in coastal Georgia during slavery while the McIntosh County Shouters perform the ring shout, sing slave songs, and tell slave stories. Educational and entertaining for all ages so bring your grandchildren and bring your grandparents. Bring everyone!

This program will be free and open to the public and is sponsored by the Savannah Ocean Exchange. Be sure to bring your friends as this is going to be another MUST SEE program. People from around the world will be in attendance. Please check back for information. Please do not bring cameras, video or recording equipment. Thank you.

JULY 2011

Please note that our group will NOT be in Washington, DC in July. We had a WONDERFUL time performing at the Library of Congress and Kennedy Center last December but we will not be in Washington during July. We just don't want people to be expecting us and be disappointed if they see a different group that is trying to do the ring shout.

We have engagements we are obligated to and will be traveling in late July.

Please note that we are NOT planning on attending the closing ceremonies of the Lorenzo Dow Turner exhibit in Washington, DC. We had the privilege of performing at the John F. Kennedy Center and the Library of Congress in December 2010. During our stay in Washington, D.C., we had the opportunity to see this fantastic exhibit. While we absolutely loved our stay in Washington, D.C. we will not be able to return to Washington before the end of that exhibit. We just want you to be aware that we are NOT going to be in Washington, D.C. in July 2011. We loved our visit in December 2010 but we have other events happening in July that preclude our travel to Washington, D.C.
