February is our busiest month, with this being Black History Month. We are looking forward to our performances in Atlanta and hope you will be able to come! We will be giving two programs in the Atlanta area:

February 7, 7pm at the Lovett School--Open to the public

February 9, 8pm at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center--Open to the public--Introduction by Art Rosenbaum, University of Georgia professor, folklorist and Grammy-Award winning producer

Our February programming has many school performances scheduled as well as festivasl, a trip to Atlanta, and family reunions. We look forward to seeing you at one of these venues!

MARCH 6, 8pm at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, Baltimore, MD

As a result of our December 2010 Homegrown Concert Series program with the Library of Congress and the John F. Kennedy Center, we were requested to return to the Washington D.C. area. We are thrilled to be performing at the University of Maryland and hope to see you there!

In 2010, of the 50-80 groups were presented for this concert series (noted above) to a panel in Washington, D.C. The McIntosh County Shouters were one of 10 groups chosen to perform at these venues. Of the 10 groups accepted, we were informed that our group was ranked #1. We had a great time at both events and we are honored to be requested to perform at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center.

MARCH 24, 12:30pm at the Charles H. Morris Center, Savannah, GA

The McIntosh County Shouters are delighted to announce that we are performing again at the Savannah Music Festival. Our program last year was sold out so order your tickets early! Festival employees unfortunately had to turn away nearly 100 people because they hadn't purchased their tickets sooner. This particular weekend is also the same weekend for the Savannah Tours and Homes. If you are from out of town, this would be a great weekend to visit Savannah, learn about coastal Georgia history, and see some lovely traditional Savannah homes.

The McIntosh County Shouters sing "So Sweet" in this video : About the Ring Shout

PLEASE NOTE: The McIntosh County Shouters have always been known by this name: The McIntosh County Shouters. They have never had any other name.

Entry: February 8, 2012

The McIntosh County Shouters performed at The Lovett School in Atlanta to three delighted audiences! One was a community program and the other two were for the students. We enjoyed returning to the Lovett School and hope to be invited to return! Thank you SO much. We really enjoyed performing for both the community and the kids.

DON'T FORGET!!! We are performing at Roswell Cultural Arts Center tomorrow evening at 8pm. Come see us!
